A modernist lego-land scaled house

Many of the Lego models I see are now built in modular scale, but there is the odd gem in the more traditional scale, like this one by frogstudio:

Lego models needn't be large to have interesting details. In fact, some of the smaller models are the more inspired ones. Here is one that meets those criteria nicely, by user Mariko.

This lego model is an intriguing story of scale - it isn't quite the same scale as modulars, and is in fact almost a smaller scale than regular town sets, but nevertheless, it works very well.

4555 in a better form

One of the things that I would like to do in terms of Lego is to rebuild the original sets that I know and love in a form that is better than the original - larger scale and more detail.

The Park Avenue Brownstone

This modular reminds me a lot of the buildings that have disappeared so much from our streets over the years, with it's cuppola and ornate features. Just the ticket.

A non-descript building

Well, maybe not quite non-descript, but the architectural type cannot easily be described. Never the less, this one does look like a few buildings I've seen in the real world. A good wee interior too, with a barbershop downstairs and a nightclub above.

Interesting facades

A city is made up of many streetscapes, which in turn are made up of many individual facades.

In the case of a Lego city, those facades can take almost any form - here are a neat pair, supposedly from Belgium as built by ezechielle

The corner bookstore

Here is another neat modular - a bookstore by aloisvonesterhazy. The clever use of parts makes the model feel of the era in which a real building of the style would be built.

Winter sees me spending a lot more time online rather than outside. What, with it getting dark as work finishes, and not getting light again until the commute to work. Of course, there are many neat sights online, and this lego model is one of them - the houses, by brickcitydepot - would look right at home in San Francisco.

As always, the devil is in the details - I really like the conservatory, gardens and picture windows.

A licorice of a candy store

Lego colours are very similar to licorice colours - here is a neat example of that used to a neat effect, to make a candy store, built by eurobricks member Follows Closely.

A white modular in dutch style

Modular buildings come in many shapes and sizes. This one caught my attention as it feels as though it's right out of amsterdam, with it's height and it's gable. A neat model all the same built by Man with a hat.

Prohibition - the theme that never was

Lego designers must come up with all sorts of ideas on a day to day basis - many of which never see the light of day. Here's one, a prohibitition '30's theme that was conceptualised in the 1980's:

Lego cities never seem to have power plants - but if they have a nuclear power plant, I think these would be the guys to go in and clean up any mess that might come about - the Hazmat unit by frogstudio:

Subway trains

So blogger was down yesterday, and deleted my post from the day before - meanies they are!

Anyway, the day before yest I posted about this Lego subway train, a neat model which looks just like the communter trains of Berlin.  This example was built by Sheriff von Snottingham.
