The state of Japanese infrastructure

This map shows the state of the roading infrastructure in northern Honshu, Japan.

Roading Infrastructure, Honshu Island, Japan - 19 March 2011

Roads in blue are passable, those in gray are not. Notice how many large areas have only gray roads? Bear in mind that some of these 'towns' have populations of up to a million people. It is no wonder that help is taking a while to get to people in isolated areas.
